BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE COMMISSION:
“ The aim of KHIO faculty of design is to demonstrate by example, that young designers are a creative and positive force in our urban environment. Moreover, they are able to create visual images that is not ugly or damaging to our surroundings.”
Dori Gislason, Dean of KHIO.
CONCEPT AND IDEAS:
We created a brief for the students in two parts. The first part was to listen to four pieces of selected music and visualise the rhythm. The second part was to research a list of artists and draw their inspiration.
The aim was to make the students work as one soul where a mix of everybodies analysis of the music would merge into an organic piece of work.
We had 5 days to paint the mural and the students was involved in the whole process. The mural was portrayed in the local newspaper and positive support from the neighbours and passers by encouraged the students to produce only their best.
The completion of the work was celebrated with drinks and BBQ.
