Design duo Gilles & Cecilie specialise in making even the most ordinary, boring wall look handsome with their mural painting skills - something Paul Smith is also a dab hand at doing for people, with his clothes. So the perfect pairing - and our favourite fashion/illustration collaboration - of 2006 is the work Gilles & Cecilie did for Mr. Smith`s stores this year. Gilles & Cecilie applied their eye for colour and their exuberant illustrative aesthetic to Paul Smith interiors, window displays and even to the streets surrounding the stores across the world. They also proved that they can make small-scale works of note by creating some very dapper desk accessories that make a curvy visual sibling to the Paul Smith stripes.
